Homegrown Extremists Tied to Deadlier Toll Than Jihadists in U.S. Since 9/11 – The New York Times

A count by a research center found that non-Muslim extremists have been far more lethal than Islamic militants on American soil since Sept. 11, 2001, running counter to public perception.

This comment though really brings home why there is such disparity in how people in this nation view the attacks differently.

“ ‘We understand white supremacists,’ [William Braniff] said. ‘We don’t really feel like we understand Al Qaeda, which seems too complex and foreign to grasp.’ ”

People tend to feel that they understand what fits into their preconceived picture of the world, and what supports their deeply felt religious and moral principles. Gov. Haley and others said that what the shooter in Charleston did was “incomprehensible” because a white man shooting 9 people in a church was incompatible with their notion of how the world works, or should work.

Americans “understand” Islamic terrorists because Islam is a foreign-seeming religion which is so far outside of most Americans’ ideas of how the world works that it is “understandable” that Muslims would do terrible things. In fact, it’s “understandable” that all Muslims would secretly sympathize with terrorists, despite what they say in public. But ordinary-looking young white men don’t do what Roof did, unless of course they’re “crazy,” so his action can be explained by mental illness and we don’t have to link it to racism as a general social fact. This is how everything that happens gets interpreted and re-interpreted until it fits people’s preconceptions.

Mini maintenance

Things went very well and I did not have to do any walnut blasting. During the tear down I actually found a bolt missing on the air intake causing a major air flow issue.
Finished the tear down and did find a bit of carbon build up that was easy to clean with a nylon brush and carb cleaner. Sent from my iPhone

Lindsey Graham is just stupid

He is a senator for one of the states that succeeded from the United States over slavery wrapped in the guise of states rights. All one has to do is read the succession proclamations and it is spelled out clearly. These confederates all wanted to maintain their right to own black people. That is the truth of why they succeeded.
Then in an act comparable to the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese and the terrorist attacks on 9/11 by al qaeda these traitors attacked Ft Sumter South Carolina. The United States then kicked their asses and ended slavery only to see Jim Crow and segregation take hold.
And just to prove that the battle flag of traitors was hoisted over the South Carolina capital for racist reasons her are the words of one of their state legislators from 1961 the year it was raised.
Sen. John D. Long, who had sponsored resolutions that placed the flag (confederate) over the House and Senate rostrums, warmed up the crowd: “Out of the dust and ashes of War with its attendant destruction and woe, came Reconstruction more insidious than war and equally evil in consequences, until the prostrate South staggered to her knees assisted by the original Ku Klux Klan and the Red Shirts who redeemed the South and restored her to her own.”
It is a flag of hate and racism, resurrected by the kkk and segregationists that should be taken down and burned. We do not fly Japan’s flag over Pearl Harbor or al qaedas flag over the site of the Twin Towers why then do we allow this to fly. Because people like Lindsey Graham retain the true power in the south and they think it is ok to perpetuate a racist heritage while acting like it doesn’t produce racist terrorists like the shit head who killed innocent people this week.
Let’s send him to Gitmo classify the kkk and these other groups as terrorists since that is what they are and designate their members enemy combatants.
And Lindsey maybe you should take a good thorough history class on your state because you might need to learn a few things.

Joys of Mini R56 ownership

I own a 2010 Mini Cooper R56. It is for the most part a fun little car that is great for my commute. I average 33-34 MPG on the highway and with a round trip of 90 miles to and from work I find it to be a nice economically car to own, it is fun to drive and surprisingly roomy; I am 6’4″ tall, north of 250 lbs and I have plenty of room.

The down side of owning the Mini is that it has direct injection in which fuel is injected directly into the cylinders as opposed to joining the air in the intake manifold. This engine design apparently causes carbon to build up on the air intake side of the manifold requiring cleaning. Recommended method is walnut blasting at an approved dealer. My car unfortunately just rolled out of warranty and the check engine light came on indicating I have this problem.

So today I am embarking on the delicate task of walnut blasting my intakes because I am too cheap to shell out the 800 dollars or more I have seen people complaining that they had to pay at a dealership. This should be fun.

Why I hate the term race baiter

And I do hate it. It fills me with rage and anger. Almost every time I hear people use the word or I see it written it is in reference to Civil Rights leaders or those who call racism, racism. Many of them will be happy to turn the discussion to the racism of people of color, how it isn’t just white people. Even when an act of blatant racism occurs some people want to pretend it is something else. A white supremacist goes into a historic black church and kills nine black people and still there are people who cannot just say what it is, pure racism.

Why? Is it that people are afraid if they really looked into the abyss that is racism they will see themselves staring back?

When did compromise become sin?

Tom Gaitens, who knew Rubio in the state House and formerly worked for the conservative group FreedomWorks, said he had forgiven Rubio for the sin of working with Democrats on comprehensive immigration reform.

via Tea Partiers Rage Against Rubio 2016 – The Daily Beast.

When I read such a statement it really makes me angry, political discourse and compromise are the only healthy ways to tend to the tree of Liberty once it has been planted. To equate that compromise with sin is to invite and advocate for the tyranny of one’s own ideas above everyone else’s and that is best left to places where freedom and liberty are hated words.

Housing bubble 2.0

Time to start prepping, just went through 6 different pieces of mail; all about mortgages. All slick, worded to entice and encourage a potential borrower to apply for more than their house is worth or guaranties about low rates.

This one is good too; “unlike banks we do everything we can to say YES to our customers needs”

Yes I know we are all free to choose whether we take this offer. However I know how much things like health problems can drain your resources and if you have kids and they have health problems even more so.
I just want to see predatory lenders restricted and kept honest; from mortgages to payday lenders.
